The first observations of the heavens date back many thousands of years, at a time when one tried to find connections between life on Earth and the movements of bodies in the heavens with the help of landmarks.
From these origins all the way to modern space astronomy the development of the observatories is traced, including their building structures, instruments and observation techniques.

The Jantar-Mantar Observatory in Jaipur, India, (built 1728 – 1734) is an impressive witness of the observation of luminary bodies.
The large model of the installation in the exhibition clearly shows the architectural dimensions and the fascination that emanates from this observatory.
